Tones are generated directly via the Web Audio API using an OscillatorNode routed through a GainNode (for volume) and a StereoPannerNode (for channel isolation, pan value -1 or +1), with the frequency sweep using exponentialRampToValueAtTime for a smooth, musically natural pitch glide rather than a linear one. Where the browser supports output device selection, a device dropdown lets you target a specific audio output directly.

Why speaker tester testing matters

Tips for accurate results
- Play the left and right channel tones separately and confirm sound comes from the physically correct side — a reversed cable is a common, easy-to-miss fault.
- Run the frequency sweep at a moderate volume first; very low volumes can make bass frequencies seem to "disappear" even on healthy speakers.
- Very low (sub-40Hz) and very high (above 15kHz) tones being inaudible is often just normal hardware or hearing range limitation, not a fault.
- If using Bluetooth audio, test with a wired connection too — Bluetooth codecs can roll off high frequencies more aggressively.
